EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLE THERAPY (EFT) FOR RELATIONSHIP DIFFICULTIES
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) is a highly effective, well researched and empirically validated treatment for helping couples in emotional distress. EFT helps a couple to identify and change destructive negative cycles operating within their relationship,in a structured approach typically achieved within 8-13 sessions.
In the course of a long term relationship, many couples will experience life changes and may face numerous difficult decisions and challenges. Some examples might be: Conflict around commitment, starting a family and fertility issues, adjusting to the birth of a baby, sexual difficulties and infidelity, challenges with health, career related concerns and adapting to the changes that ageing bring - all of these can put the couple relationship under great pressure.
EFT enables couples to explore their conflicts safely, with the objective of identifying the negative cycles which cause distress. It helps them to change these patterns and strengthens their emotional bond with each other, allowing the couple to face all challenges much more effectively.
THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS
There may be many reasons to seek help from a professional counsellor, and just the act of sharing a difficulty with someone who is trained to listen and respond in a non-judgmental and objective way can create real opportunities for useful change. I am able to work with clients on a broad range of issues including those listed below. If for any reason I am unable to see someone or conclude that their problems require a different approach I have access to a range of colleagues and referral resources.
